AEROSPACE
The
Problem: A major airline manufacturer needed to eliminate
the shaft seal for rotary feedback sensors in hydraulic actuators.
The Solution: Exploiting the solid
rotor of the Rotasyn resolver, Admotec develped a unique
“canned- rotor” resolver which allows the rotor to
operate directly in hydraulic fluid. This unique product solved the
shaft seal problem and lead to significantly lower maintenance costs.

AUTOMOTIVE
The
Problem: A major diesel engine manufacturer wanted to
measure the torsional twist of the cam shaft during operation in a
truck engine.
The Solution: Admotec engineers
designed a custom split ring magnetic encoder that allowed installation directly on the cast and ground cam
shaft as well as operation in hot engine oil. The benefit to the engine
manufacturer was improved cam control, improved engine control and
lower pollution levels.

NUCLEAR ENERGY
The
Problem: A large nuclear facility was experiencing continuing
early failure of traditional feedback resolvers in the highly demanding
conditions of the nuclear control system.
The Solution: Admotec recommended the
variable reluctance, solid rotor Rotasyn resolver with a
mean-time-between-failure double that of traditional resolvers.
Operating almost 100 times longer than the previous resolvers, the
Rotasyn significantly lowered maintenance costs and provided savings in
the amortization of control equipment.

ELECTRONIC PRINTING
The
Problem: A major printing equipment manufacturer needed to
accurately measure the drum position in a sophisticated offset plate
setter. A traditional optical encoder coupled to the drum produced
cyclical errors due to the coupling.
The Solution: A custom magnetoresistive
encoder was able to mount directly to the imaging drum, thus
eliminating the coupling error. As a result, the accuracy was greatly
improved, set-up and adjustment times were reduced and higher quality
printing plates were produced at lower cost.

TESTING
The
Problem: A major manufacturer of torque flanges used in
automotive dynamometers and powertrain test stands was experiencing
early failure of their optical encoders.
The Solution: A standard Admotec large
bore (200mm) encoder was incorporated directly into the torque flange,
providing a compact, reliable speed-sensing solution. Operating at up
to 10,000 rpm, these encoders provide accurate speed and position
information at high temperature in the presence of dirt, grease, and
oil.

MANUFACTURING
The
Problem: The extreme heat and harsh conditions of steel
plants frequently cause optical encoders to fail.
The Solution: Admotec engineers, working
with a major encoder manufacturer, designed an insert-molded large-bore
magnetic encoder wheel and magnetoresistive sensor to the demanding
specifications of the customer. The result: encoder life more than
doubled while downtime and maintenance costs were greatly reduced.
